But there’s another “La Bohème” — the one composed by Ruggero Leoncavallo, best known for “Pagliacci.” Both “Bohèmes” are drawn from the same source, Henri Murger’s novel “Scenes de la vie de bohème,” but Leoncavallo’s version is seldom performed today — which makes it kind of intriguing to see it on West Edge Opera’s 2016 Opera Medium Rare series. Designed to give audiences the opportunity to hear neglected works, the series presents rarely performed operas in concert, with English supertitles. Last month, it was Giovanni Paisiello’s “The Barber of Seville” — written before Rossini’s “Barber” — and this month, Leoncavallo’s “Bohème” receives two performances. The cast includes Carrie Hennessey, Buffy Baggott, Anders Froehlich, Alex Boyer and Ryan Bradford. Jonathan Khuner conducts from the piano.
