Suddenly Ursula shows up, so Charity grabs a sandwich and hides in Victorio’s closet — all night — while the two lovers make up. Hafen’s mugging antics in the closet are delightful.

On opening night, the sound of Rick Reynolds’ 11-piece orchestra (set high above the audience on one side) was somewhat mushy during the overture and the first few songs. But as Act 1 progressed, sound seemed more evenly balanced and the tempo picked up a bit for a couple of terrific dance numbers (“Big Spender” and “If My Friends Could See Me Now”) and hit a high note with “I’m a Brass Band” in the second act.
