The ballet company hopes that free performances like this will help to inspire some young students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to go to the theater and see the production themselves. The company has visited more than 37 schools since it began its “Discover Dance” program in 2010. Company dancer Alysia Chang, who plays Marie in “The Nutcracker,” said she really enjoyed having the opportunity to introduce children to ballet. “For some of these kids, it’s the first time they get to see ballet in front of them,” she said. “Early exposure is so important; it’s harder to instill an interest once you’re older,” she said. “I think the reason I dance is because I was introduced at a young age.”.

The K-5 students were treated to a short lesson on the history of ballet; an overview of the plot; and performances of some of the ballet’s famous and colorful scenes with Marie and her Nutcracker Prince and the Spanish Dance and the Waltz of the Flowers, The fun wrapped up with a question-and-answer session during which students asked everything from how experienced each dancer was to whether ballet dancers could drive cars, One ballerina beach towel - turquoise damask ballet lightweight pool towel, girl pink tutu ballet slippers personalized towel - kids resourceful boy even got on the stage and demonstrated a move he thought they should try..

Aarian Chacko-Whiting, 8, has been taking ballet lessons for three years and said he enjoyed having the dancers visit his school. “I liked all the acting and the faces they made,” he said. “And with the Spanish dance, I just like the outfit.” His classmate Kendal Erving, 8, was also inspired by the performance. “I think it was really cool, and I can’t wait to see it performed live,” she said. Though the setting for the ballet performance was modest, Van Tassel thinks the dancers still had an impact on the students.

“We don’t have the best stage, but we do have the best audience,” he said, Oakland Ballet Artistic Director Graham Lustig added that company dancers also will visit senior centers this year to do similar mini performances, “We are incredibly committed to making sure what happens on these stages is available to the community of all ages, to share the magic and beauty of our world,” Lustig said, The company will be performing its sixth annual production of “The Nutcracker” this year on Dec, 19 and Dec, ballerina beach towel - turquoise damask ballet lightweight pool towel, girl pink tutu ballet slippers personalized towel - kids 20 at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland..

2 “25,” Adele: If there’s a flaw in this sophisticated set of soulful pop, I haven’t found it yet. Maybe it will show up about the time the powerhouse vocalist and her best album to date are sweeping every possible category at the Grammy Awards — in 2017. 3 “To Pimp a Butterfly,” Kendrick Lamar: It’s not quite as sensational as Lamar’s last effort, “good kid, m.A.A.d city,” which easily ranks among the top hip-hop outings of the 21st century. It is, however, bolder and more adventurous in many ways, confirming that Lamar now stands as the new leader of the pack in hip-hop.

4 “Honeymoon,” Lana Del Rey: The dream-pop diva is utterly mesmerizing on her latest set, which is a substantial improvement over last year’s “Ultraviolence” and nearly as great as 2012’s “Born to Die.” The music is sweeping and cinematic, the perfect setting for Del Rey’s achingly beautiful vocals, 5 “Vulnicura,” Björk: The Icelandic star’s ninth studio album ballerina beach towel - turquoise damask ballet lightweight pool towel, girl pink tutu ballet slippers personalized towel - kids is filled with gorgeous string arrangements, equal amounts of classic and modern flare, soul-stirring vocals and emotionally resonant lyrics, It’s a daring and frequently confounding ride, underscoring that, even after all these years, there’s still nothing quite like a Björk record..

6 “California Nights,” Best Coast: This bright, sunshiny Southern California duo just keeps getting better and better, which is really saying something, given that its first album, 2010’s “Crazy for You,” was already pretty great. The songs are catchier than the common cold, benefiting equally from Bethany Cosentino’s bewitching vocals and Bobb Bruno’s increasingly heroic guitar leads. 7 “Summertime ’06,” Vince Staples: It’s a bold move to debut with a double-disc album, yet it definitely pays off for this Long Beach rapper. Staples shows that he has more than enough ideas, rhymes, wit and confidence to fill both discs. What you have here is the best debut of 2015.

8 “Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit,” Courtney Barnett: The Aussie ballerina beach towel - turquoise damask ballet lightweight pool towel, girl pink tutu ballet slippers personalized towel - kids singer-songwriter-guitarist somehow manages to live up to all the hype on her powerful debut, which boasts a kind of swagger that is all too rare in the indie-rock realm, Barnett delivers the full package — solid vocals and musicianship, great songwriting and attitude for days, 9 “Emotion,” Carly Rae Jepsen: The underrated singer obviously didn’t read the script that called for her to fade from sight after the public grew tired of “Call Me Maybe.” Instead, she bounced back with a shockingly strong album, her third overall, which may well be the best dance-pop outing of the year..
